Description
In 1939, the Massachusetts National Guard maintained a unit strength well below that required for war. Only 41 enlisted men posed for this photograph. Frank Fitzgerald, first row, far right in the left photo, served as First Sergeant ("Top Kick") of Company G during the first part of World War II.
